DRAWING ON PSYCHOTHERAPY, SYSTEMS constellations are a powerful approach for helping resolve complex problems. The approach can be practised on a table top, during a traditional consultancy or coaching session, or as a workshop in a large room with a group of participants, usually strangers.
The activity draws on ideas used in family systems therapy. Here, wooden or real people represent a number of stakeholders around a situation. Skilled questioning helps to clarify the wider situation from a number of perspectives.
We have used it with clients who need to analyse a situation involving many individuals and organisations. It’s helped them think about the many agendas, identify relationships and connections that hadn’t previously occurred to them, and explore different scenarios and actions they might take.
