The Contented tribe

Our tribe is the pool of talent to which we turn to find our freelancers and employees.  Strangers can engage with us through our tribe for support addressing their own complex professional challenges or to develop their communications practice in storytelling and action-learning.  Many come to us because they want help to broaden their experience, to ‘shift gear’, or to find work that gives them a sense of meaning.  People fall into three main groups, Alumni, Advocates and Associates.

Our Alumni, Advocates & Associates

Since 2010, Contented has offered voluntary placements and paid internships in the UK and abroad to some 150 people at various stages of their career.  We welcome enquiries at any time of year – around September, we often receive requests for placements that are part of undergraduate or masters courses; around January, we are often approached by universities, corporations or charities with finance for internships.  Throughout the year, we receive emails via partner organisations who share our passion for sustainability.  Job Centres often call us because they have little to offer more mature people looking for work.  Organisers managing Erasmus+ programmes know how much we value people with international backgrounds and languages.

All our staff are expected to participate in our regular online peer-coaching sessions and to share with associates a weekly reflective journal.

Many of our tribe earn money working with us, either on their own project, which we support in return for a share of income, or as freelancers with our clients.  We monitor ‘match-fitness’ to work with our clients by supporting them in creating content and developing their coaching and facilitation skills, and evidence through ILM certification.

Placements

Contented Ltd is a strategic communications company specialising in innovation and change.  Our purpose is to inspire people to create a better world by shining a light on responsible innovation.

We develop & deliver communications strategies, tools and products for corporate and public sector projects and brands. A key service is helping engineers to generate insights into complex challenges, capture those insights and promote them to position themselves as leaders in their marketplace.

Our main targets are companies in the transport and renewable energy sectors who are entering new markets.  They are investing in trade shows, trade missions and conferences, and want to get more value out of these activities.

Business Development

Would you like to help create a better world through story?  Our Business Development Coordinator helps with all aspects of managing a small project team, generating and promoting thought-leadership and responsible corporate citizenship.

YOUR ROLE

You’ll help us follow-up with companies in the UK and abroad whom we’ve met at trade shows this year (you might even get to visit an event with us).  You will also help us run the training programme with a cohort of freelancers who’ll be learning to record interviews with prospective clients.

The person we select will be a well-organised, confident and accurate communicator with excellent spoken and written English, good social skills and courteous by phone and email.  You’ll be interested in media, learning and development, and engineering, and passionate about caring for the planet and its people.

Supervised by the MD, you’ll work with him and our production manager, agreeing tasks based on our current business development and client activities.  You’ll join our weekly team coaching activities, keeping a weekly reflective journal.  If your performance is satisfactory, at the end you’ll join a growing community with a reference and improved LinkedIn profile.

Business Journalism

Would you like to take a fresh look at the world’s next big economies and inspire companies to create a better world?  Our Business Journalist intern helps research and report on developing markets from the perspective of a responsible investor.

YOUR ROLE

You’ll help us develop our strategy for this new initiative, working with our colleagues in business development and content production.  On which growth markets will we focus? What have been the obstacles to development? Where are the major trade shows, innovative projects and culture to visit? We’ll research and write short articles together, publishing and optimising pages.

The person we select will be a well-organised and accurate communicator with excellent spoken and written English, and courteous by phone and email.  You’ll be interested in media, learning and development, engineering, with good social skills and passionate about caring for the planet and its people.

You’ll work with experienced journalists, supervised by the MD, agreeing tasks based on our current business development and client activities.  You’ll join our weekly team coaching activities, keeping a weekly reflective journal.  If your performance is satisfactory, at the end you’ll join a growing community with a reference and improved LinkedIn profile.

Data Visualisation

Would you like to create cool maps and infographics to help engineers change the world?  Our Data Visualisation team member helps present and promote information in visual form, to help colleagues and clients see complex problems in new ways.

YOUR ROLE

You’ll be helping us look for patterns of information in the work we do and to turn that into visual representations that positions Contented in our own market.  For example, who is visiting which trade shows from which countries?  Could we visualise what’s happening politically, economically, socially, environmentally and technically?  We’ll look for information in the transport and energy sectors and our own training programmes, to find stories we can tell.

The person we select will be a great graphic artist with the ability to use different software such as Adobe Illustrator to create great infographics.  The chosen candidate will be accurate with good social skills and a passion for caring for the planet and its people.

As part of a very small team, you’ll work alongside the MD, an experienced journalist and coach, to agree tasks based on our current business development and client activities.  We take pride in our training and development programmes and you’ll join our weekly team coaching activities, keeping a weekly reflective journal.  If your performance is satisfactory, at the end you’ll join a growing community with a reference and improved LinkedIn profile.

All our temporary staff are invited to join our tribe of suppliers developing our core practices of storytelling and action learning.
