Working with Educators

Boost literacy and employability through hands-on media production that makes work-related learning fun!

Today’s schools, colleges and universities are expected to create experiences for students and staff that prepare young people for working life. Employers are as concerned about attitudes as academic ability and it is critical that educational establishments develop effective and long-term community relationships to enrich the curriculum. This means creating short-term and long-term value on both sides. Ad hoc arrangements are a start but can actually be disruptive if not part of a strategic approach.

“Why?” A short film linked to ASDAN’s  Employability Award Level 2
and Continuing Professional Development for Newly Qualified Teachers.Contented works with academia to reach out to business, designing and managing work experience and placement programmes that deliver and certificate a range of leadership and employability skills, from pre-school to university. Linked of course to our values of sustainability and enterprise.

Media-based work experience placements

Our digital work experience programmes give students meaningful interactions with employees. They plan, script, conduct and edit interviews with a range of staff, practising written and spoken English, ICT and numeracy skills, as well as the ‘soft’ employability skills. In the process, they learn about career paths and the value of meaningful work beyond the pay packet. We can then polish the resulting content for websites, exhibition and internal TV.

Most youth-led learning projects can be delivered in a way that embeds the Personal Learning & Thinking Skills that equip young people for future employment and lifelong learning.

Contented can train the employees and teaching staff to support the students in evidencing their learning so that we can certificate it through an appropriate awarding body. This training itself can be mapped to CPD certification and the Institute of Leadership & Management.
